Valedictory Speech

Ladies and gentlemen,
3 years. 3 solid, back-to-back, long, yet at the same time so very, very short years. 3 years can really change a person. We all became friends over these last 3 years. We learned so many new things from our amazing teachers over these past 3 years. We laughed and we cried, loved and hated, got bored and got super excited during these three years, and we did it all together. But, today, it all comes to an end.
I still remember the first self-introductions we made. We were strangers to each other. We were nervous standing in front of everybody and worried whether others would accept us. But the answer was clearer with each day we spent together: We didn’t need to hide our true selves, or purposefully try to be different people in order to fit in because the very reason why we got along so well with each other was that we are all different and unique in some special way. Uniqueness is beautiful, let’s never forget that.
Remember how our teachers were always yelling at us? Well, the truth is that we really did some things that could have angered them a bit. We would skip classes, not do our homework, maybe even cheat on tests, or do some stupid things outside of classes. They would yell at us, and we would still continue in our ways. But let’s not forget that they were responsible for us; they were asked to give us knowledge, information, and the skills to successfully continue in our future lives. What they did was for our benefit; and as I look back, I can appreciate what they were trying to do a lot more. As well, let’s not forget that they helped us whenever we needed help: PS statements, references, patiently explaining some problem or some exam strategy – they did all that unquestionably, and with great enthusiasm. They also cheered us up when we were down; they helped us with our personal problems, and gave us lots of advice for the future. We were lucky to have them, and I really hope they will never forget us – since I am sure that we will not forget them.
This is the last time we gather together to create some memories. Let’s cherish this last opportunity to say things we haven’t had the courage to say before, to express feelings we didn’t have the chance to express before, and to say goodbye to people we got to love in these three years. Let’s also look brightly into our futures – Universities and colleges await us; and we are truly lucky to be in the positions we are in right now. We are young, we are smart, we are beautiful and handsome, and we are proud of who we are. Good luck to everyone! May all your dreams come true, and may you live happy and fulfilling lives!!!
